We read a lot of blogs and articles directed to the trade and we certainly pay attention to the ones that are focused on the furniture industry in particular. Most are boring, a few informative, but some are down right riveting. We were particularly interested in one by Mr William Shoulberg. Following are some excerpts we think might interest you. "Virtually every consumer products category in America has a world-class, national brand that is instantly recognizable. Not furniture. Think about it. Furniture is usually the third most expensive thing a person will ever buy, after a house and a car. Yet most people visit a furniture store about as often as they stop by a mortuary. With an often similar shopping experience, too. So, what you don’t know about furniture retailing could fill…well, could fill this column." Now we aren't so sure about that! After all, oomph customers know an awful lot about what they want in the way of stylish furniture and they get the whole "lifestyle" thing he talks about later in the article. Not everyone just fell off the pumpkin cart, Mr Shoulberg. Some of us understand exactly what will "make" our room a stand-out. We shop around, watch for our favorite designers in magazines, follow the fashion trends and know real quality when we see it. We also believe in supporting the USA and buy American. We covet beautiful design and have a sense of style that reflects who we are and what we are about.
