Our Martha's Vineyard Guide

In summer we head straight to Martha's Vineyard. There is no shortage of beautiful places to visit, food to eat, beaches to swim at, and stores to shop . . . but here is a list of our favorites.

WHERE TO STAY

Renting a home on Island is a great way to experience Island life. But if you are just visiting for a few days, or just can't decide on the perfect Sea Captain's cottage, here are a couple of great choices in Edgartown.

Charlotte Inn: A Historical Home in downtown Edgartown. Full of art, history and a to die for menu. Furthermore, it's part of the Relaix Chateu family of hotels, so you know it's going to be great!

Harbor View Hotel: Arguably some of the best views of Edgartown Harbor. Built in 1891, overlooking Martha’s Vineyard’s Edgartown Lighthouse, Edgartown Harbor and Chappaquiddick Island, our Martha’s Vineyard hotel is flanked by historic homes from 19th Century whaling captains. The Hotel recently underwent a renovation and added separate cottages perfect for extended stays.

WHERE TO EAT

Morning Glory Farm and Rosewater are our favorites for provisioning, not just for dinner but lunch on the go when you are headed out on the boat or to the beach. Fresh, simple, beautiful, and everything you could possibly want.

Looking for a really special dining experience? Then head straight out to Aquinnah to the Outermost Inn. Some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen are from the patio at this exquisite restaurant. And the food? Well, it is one of the best dining experiences to be had. Locally sourced from local fisherman, farms, and the inn's own gardens. Reservations are not easy to come by, so plan ahead and get there early enough to see the sunset!

WHERE TO BEACH

Beautiful beaches are abundant in Martha's Vineyard. The perimeter of the island has hidden beauties at every turn. Some are well kept secrets by neighbors, but even the most popular spots boast clear water, soft sand, and maybe even a jump from the famous "Jaws Bridge."

Other favorites include South Beach

and Squibnocket

Gray Malin has a beautiful collection of Aerial Martha's Vineyard photography - this one we brought home - can you blame us!?

WHERE TO SHOP

Shopping in Edgartown is certainly one of our favorite past times. Don't miss any of these!

Tracker Home: One of oomph's very first clients, Tracker Home is the island's premier home store. Linens, art, furniture, lighting, decorative items and design services can all be found here under one room! And keep your eyes peeled for the latest oomph designs.

The Boneyard: A favorite of tourists and locals alike. Everything you need to get your surfing career on point - or at least look like it! Look closely and you'll find some great beach wear and gear for kids.

Slate and Slate Home: A newer addition to the shopping experience, Slate has beautiful and unique clothing that bridges chic and bohemian. A home store opened last summer and is equally great.

The Christina Gallery: bring home a piece of Martha's Vineyard from the beautiful Christina Gallery. Some of the island's finest artwork can be seen here, along with a selection of Sailor's Valentines and our favorite, the Little Boats, which can be personalized!

We could go on and on about the Vineyard. There is so much to do, so much to see, and so many great people on the Island, it's no wonder, we, and so many others come back time and again. Here are a few more links of places and things we love!
